Palm Sunday services, on March 20, will be at Jesse Lee’s normal times: traditional services at 9 and 11 a.m. in the sanctuary, and the contemporary service at 10 a.m. in the Carriage House. Sermon title by the Rev. Dr. Bill Pfohl is Juries, Judges and Witness.
On Thursday, March 24, Jesse Lee hosts Messiah in the Passover, a demonstration so the Jewish roots of Christianity can be better understood. The event begins with a covered-dish supper at 6:30 p.m. in Martin Hall. Call 203-438-8791 or sign up at jesseleechurch.com and select a dish to bring.
After the event, a prayer vigil will begin in the sanctuary and continue through the night until noon Friday, a practice that has been a part of Jesse Lee’s Holy Week tradition for many years. Sign-up is online.
On Friday, March 25, children can explore the meaning of Good Friday through crafts, songs and stories in the Thanking God It’s Good Friday program, from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sign-up is online.
At 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary, the Jesse Lee choir and orchestra presents a free Good Friday evening of scripture and song, in a style similar to Jesse Lee’s Lessons and Carols service during Christmas.
And Jesse Lee’s Easter Sunday services are:
• 6:30 a.m. — Sunrise service on the church front steps
• 7:30 a.m. — Easter breakfast in Martin Hall.
• 9 a.m. — Traditional service in the sanctuary.
• 10 a.m. — Contemporary service in the Carriage House.
• 11 a.m. — Traditional service in the sanctuary.
An Easter egg hunt for children will take place after the 9 and 11 a.m. services.
