Forecasters say a Nor’easter that could hit the area Sunday into Monday. When, and where, the effects will be felt the most remains uncertain.
Spring officially arrives with the vernal equinox at 12;30 a.m. Sunday, March 20, in the Eastern time zone.
A hazardous weather outlook has already been issued by the National Weather Service for Fairfield and New Haven counties in Connecticut and Westchester County in New York, along with the rest of the area, with the potential for a coastal storm that could bring at least 6 inches of snow accompanied by strong winds and minor coastal flooding.

The National Weather Service predicts a 70% chance of snow during the day Sunday, an 80% chance Sunday night, and a 40% chance of snow Monday, but mainly before 9 a.m.
Winter storm watches have already been issued for portions of eastern Massachusetts and all of Rhode Island.
Meteorologists expect a storm that has already dumped more than 10 inches just east of Boulder, Colo., and more than 4 inches at Denver International Airport, according to weather.com, to continue its track east.
Colder air will work east by Saturday, with low pressure making its way down over the Great Lakes, according to weather.com.
If the system stays close to the coast, there would be a better chance of heavy snow, accompanied by a period of rain along the shoreline, from Virginia into New England.
Should the system track farther offshore, the heaviest snow could focus on coastal New England, weather.com reported.
Winter storm watches have been issued by portions of eastern Massachusetts and all of Rhode Island, where confidence of potentially heavy snow is the highest.
Temperatures Monday and Tuesday are expected to reach the low 40s, with daytime highs expected to reach the mid 50s on Wednesday and the upper 50s Thursday and Friday. Partly cloudy and mostly sunny skies are expected all of next week.
