RHS on top 10 list again

Ridgefield High School closed out 2015 with a bang, ranking again in the top 10 of Connecticut’s high schools, according the education website niche.com.

Niche gave Ridgefield High School an A+ rating overall, and placed it at No. 8 on the scale of the top 10 high schools, according to hundreds of parent and student surveys plus a look at factors like academics, health and safety, culture and diversity, teachers, resources and facilities, extracurriculars, and sports and fitness.

“Ridgefield High School is a public school in Ridgefield Town, Connecticut. It has 1,784 students in grades 9-12. According to state standards, 96% of students at this school are considered proficient in math and/or reading. There have been 265 reviews written and they have been mostly positive,” Niche reported in its narrative on the top 10 placement.

In academics, Niche gave RHS an A+. The grade for teachers was A+, for culture and diversity C-, and for resources and facilities A-.

Frances Walton, the chairman of the Board of Education, was glad to hear of the high ranking.

“It’s a tribute to all the hard work of everyone at the high school. I am delighted for the students and the teachers of RHS,” Walton said.
