Class covers real estate basics

Real Estate Principles and Practices starts Sept. 28 through Ridgefield Continuing Education. This 60-hour course meets the minimum requirements of the Connecticut Real Estate Commission and Department of Consumer Protection for application to take the sales associate or broker exam.

Instruction is led by Terry Hastings, who has taught Real Estate Principles and Practices in Ridgefield for more than 10 years. Hastings is now with Total Mortgage Services, LLC. In 2014 he received the Five Star Mortgage Professional Award from Connecticut Magazine. He was previously with Hamilton Ladd Home Loans and has more than 20 years’ prior experience in real estate sales and management with Weichert, Realtors and Prudential, Fitzgerald & Hastings.

Additional licensed brokers including Rob Gutman, Lonnie Shapiro, Jack Baldaserini and Ray Hastings also teach some sessions. This 60-hour class meets at the Venus Municipal Building on Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 28 through Dec. 9, plus Tuesdays, Oct. 13, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8 (no class Oct. 12, and Nov. 11 and 25) from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost, including two texts is $449.
