Humming House brings its grin-inducing sound to Ballard Park Thursday night.

“Put Humming House on your list of must-see acts of 2015,” writes the Huffington Post. “A new Nashville band with a throwback sound.” (All Things Considered – NPR: Blake Farmer) “…infectious and grin-inducing,” says American Songwriter Magazine. Rarely has a relatively new band received so much positive coverage and generated so much buzz in the Nashville music community. Perhaps it’s because “no band embodies what’s right about 21st Century Nashville more completely than the quintet known as Humming House.” (Craig Havighurst, Music City Roots). The band will make its debut performance for CHIRP on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m., hopefully in Ballard Park. Rain venue: The Ridgefield Playhouse.

While Humming House’s first recording, Revelries, on Nashville label Rock Ridge Music, was just released March 24, and has been receiving glowing reviews, the band is fundamentally a live band. The quintet emits a force on stage that commands attention, perhaps because of the inspirational way it weaves together the threads of bluegrass, soul, and folk, perhaps because of their five voices, two performing as lead vocalists with the rest joining in with glorious harmonies, perhaps because of the ensemble’s instrumental dexterity. Most likely it’s a combo of all of the above and more. Humming House was invited to play the 2015 Cayamo Cruise along with the best of Americana music and proved themselves a great party band while maintaining their authenticity and musicianship. They opened the new Music City Roots hall in Nashville in 2014 sharing the bill with Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell. Check them out for yourself at humminghouse.com and join the growing list of music lovers singing their praises. Don’t miss them Thursday, Aug. 20.
