Rose Gallery Fine Art of Hudson, NY has invited Peggy Thomas, a potter and sculptor, and fiber artist Angela Liptack to present a two-woman show.

Trompe L’Oeil: Nature…Made will feature more than 20 works by each artist.  A number of the artists’ pieces have been created specifically for the show.  The show runs now through Labor Day, Sept. 7, with an opening reception to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15.

Both artists create works that “deceive the eye.”

Thomas’s abstractions of nature’s patterns, colors and textures come together in high-fired stoneware: bark and fossil pieces that can be mistaken for the real thing, and celery and lotus vases that interpret nature’s shapes.

Liptack’s works look like paintings but on closer inspection are mixed-media pieces constructed entirely with needle and thread.

“Aside from the mastery of their craft, each of these artists transforms materials and objects we see everyday in other forms . . . nature.  Art from life honors nature and all the ways we can live harmoniously and create from it.  A beautiful exhibition of fine art with two complementary mediums has emerged and we are delighted to introduce Angela Liptack and Peggy Thomas to Rose Gallery,” said Nancy Cobean, owner of Rose Gallery Fine Art.

Hailing from a family of artists and largely self taught, Ms. Liptack began creating fiber art about 15 years ago and now devotes much of her free time to this pursuit (www.liptackstudios.com).

A potter for over 20 years, Ms. Thomas apprenticed for five years before opening her studio, The Pottery (www.peggythepottery.com).  Both artists’ works are in private collections and have been juried into numerous shows in both New York and Connecticut.  Ms. Liptack is an associate director at Ridgefield’s Keeler Tavern Museum.  Ms. Thomas is acting president of Connecticut Clay Artists.

Rose Gallery Fine Art is located at 238A Warren Street in Hudson, NY, and is open 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m, daily, except Tuesdays, and by appointment.
