George Washington Highway was closed in the are of No. 191 while police, highway, and fire departments worked to clear a two-car accident Saturday.
At least one of the cars struck a guardrail. A “banged knee” injury and heavy damage were reported.
One car was leaking gasoline and a portion of guardrail was in the roadway after the crash.
A tow truck was unable to remove one of the cars from the guardrail without assistance from the highway department. Heavy equipment was needed to hold the guardrail in place.
The accident occurred around 11 a.m. and police were still on the scene around 12:45.
DEEP was notified of the fluid spill.
