The men arrested for robbing First Niagara Bank in January have pled not guilty of robbery charges.
Andrew Rendflash, 35, of Oxford pled not guilty to charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and larceny on March 31 in Danbury Superior Court.
He remains in custody on a $100,000 bond until his next court date on April 30.
Police allege that Mr. Rendflash entered the bank after 1 p.m. on Jan. 24 and threatened that he was carrying a gun before fleeing the scene with $7,000.
At the time of the robbery it was reported that Mr. Rendflash escaped in a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Range Rover.
Police say David Stiber, 45, of Oxford acted as the getaway driver, driving a Jeep registered to his wife.
He pled not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and accessory to robbery on March 26 in Danbury Superior Court.
He is free on a $25,000 bond, which was reduced from $50,000 at his arraignment on Feb. 4.
Mr. Stiber is scheduled back in court on April 15.
The men were arrested on Feb. 3 after Ridgefield police Detective Tom Dardis found the vehicle’s license plate by scouring video surveillance footage from a camera at a nearby business.
“Detective Dardis replayed the clips of the vehicle outside the building for four hours until he got an isolated clip of the license plate and was able to zoom in on that image and get the plate number,” Chief John Roche said in February. “It was really fine police work.”
Chief Roche said the robbery was the department’s first since 2007, when a lone man held up the Citibank office at the north end of Main Street.
The robber in that case was caught several weeks later after a car crash following a bank holdup in Monroe.
“We have a pretty good clearance rate when it comes to bank robberies,” Chief Roche said.
