The Law Through Film Series will begin Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Prospector Theater’s Pop-up Cinema on Main Street.

Sponsored by Rob Creamer, P.C., the series aims to involve the community in relevant legal issues by watching award-winning films.

The first evening will offer Sidney Lumet’s seminal film on consensus building and due process, 12 Angry Men, starring Henry Fonda.

After the film, Thomas Leaf, Esq. from Ventura, Ribiero & Smith, will moderate a discussion on how this rule of law is the basis of a free society. The discussion will include countries that do not offer this basic right to their people.

The series continues on Feb. 26 and March 23, when the Oscar-nominated, Ron Howard film, Frost/Nixon, will be shown in the context of executive power and privilege. A moderated discussion will follow relating to today’s administration, the NSA and Obamacare.

The audience will choose March’s film based on what is happening in the news.
