The quickest event in town — the  Egg Scramble — took place from approximately 11 to 11:01 a.m. at Ballard Park on Saturday.

The Parks and Recreation (for the past 24 years Robin Mathews, P&R assistant director, has partnered with the Rotary Club) and Rotary “laid” 6,000 eggs for the children to gather. Rotary event chairman Simon Cooper purchases the eggs from an organization in Missouri that is like SPHERE that supports and employs special needs people.

The children (and parents) gather outside the designated areas (grouped by age) until 11 when the start signal is given.  At 11:01 the ground is clear.

“The anticipation and joy on the children’s faces make this event worthwhile.  A highlight of the event is the visit from the Easter Bunny,” said Bill Wyman of Rotary.
