Gerald H. Battipaglia, 86, of Danbury, husband of Delores “Dee” (Peneno) Battipaglia, died on Monday morning, February 15, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Battipaglia was born in New York, New York, a son of the late Vincent and Anna Battipaglia. He attended New York schools.
An area resident for the past forty five years coming from the Bronx, Mr. Battipaglia was a meat cutter with the former A&P store of Ridgefield and later was employed at the Ridgefield branch of the U.S. Post Office retiring after seventeen years of service.
He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and a member of St. Joseph Parish of Danbury.
In addition to his wife, “Dee” of fifty seven years, Mr. Battipaglia is survived by a son, Vincent Battipaglia and his wife, Ellen of Katonah, NY; a brother, William “Sonny” Battipaglia and his wife, Mauve of Sag Harbor, NY; three grandchildren, Jerry, Michelle and Nicole and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 386 Main St., Danbury with the Rev. David W. Franklin, Parochial Vicar, officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will be received at the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
