Three and an eighth inches were measured in downtown Ridgefield at 9:30 Friday with improving indications throughout the area. For a live broadcast on the storm go to live.han.network at 11 a.m.

Today in Ridgefield, schools are closed, Route 116 was closed at the N.Y.-Connecticut border following a serious motor vehicle accident; cars were disabled or stuck in several areas during the morning, including on Route 7 near Stonehenge, on Route 33 near Fieldcrest Road and on Barrack Hill Road where a vehicle crashed causing the road delays.

This morning’s forecast:

Southwestern Connecticut is under a winter weather advisory until noon, with moderate snow and reduced visibilities among the hazards the National Weather Service said can be expected.

Rain mixed with snow overnight, and forecast to become all snow by daybreak and lasting into early afternoon. Accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are expected.

Winds of 10 to 20 miles per hour are expected, with gusts of up to 30 miles per hour.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. The National Weather Service advised motorists to be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, particularly during morning rush hour and around school opening times.
