Calls to police of gunshots from Woodland Way residents late Monday night turned out to be fireworks.
The Press tweeted the report just before 11 p.m. but was not able to provide a follow-up.
Capt. Jeffery Kreitz, spokesman for the Ridgefield Police Department, said officers responded to an initial call and several others that followed. By 1:54 a.m., after a call of gunshots on Mountain Road, it was clear the noises were caused by fireworks. Evidence of fireworks was found, Kreitz said. Mountain Road and Woodland Way are off Limestone Road and Bennett’s Farm Road.
“We do believe, because of the proximity, the first call about gunshots was also fireworks,” Kreitz said.
