For the third time, as part of Keeler Tavern Museum’s traditional Christmas Luncheons and Holiday Boutique, Ridgefield artist Tina Cobelle-Sturges will exhibit, in a show titled Cosmopolitan Wonder, a selection of her work in the heated Cass Gilbert Carriage Barn from Dec. 8 through 12, 11:30 to 3:30 p.m. daily. An artist’s reception will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6, from 3 to 6.

All of Cobelle-Sturges’s artwork and greeting cards will be for sale. A portion of the artist’s sales will go toward the restoration of the museum’s historic Carriage Barn, which was designed and built by renowned architect Cass Gilbert in 1910.

One of several paintings that will be on display is “Gapstow Bridge.”

Cobelle-Sturges said about this painting, “The scene depicts a winter wonderland with children playing in the snow and ice skating on the pond. The horse-drawn hansom cab is making its way down a dreamy fairy tale-like path toward the bridge, and the snow appears as tiny little crystals from the light of the street lamp. One cannot help but get a feeling of excitement and peace from this nostalgic setting in Central Park.”

Her extensive portfolio demonstrates her ability to successfully reflect the sensitivity of small-town life on a New England main street or the busy urban streetscapes of New York City.

Cobelle-Sturges has completed numerous murals and other commissioned works for private collectors and is a contract artist with American Artists Group, a publisher of fine art stationery products. Her vibrant painting of Ridgefield’s Main Street was featured on the cover of the commemorative millennium book Ridgefield Enters the 21st Century, and is sold as limited-edition lithographs.
