Daniel “Dan” Leary, a former resident, died on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was born on January 13, 1946 in Danbury to Lawrence G. and Helen A. (Mei) Leary. He was 69.
He graduated from Ridgefield High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. On December 31, 2001 he married Sharon K. (Kromm) Landel in Ridgefield on Dec. 31, 2001. He enjoyed NASCAR and also liked to travel and take vacations. He was a member of the Montpelier Moose.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Landel-Leary of Pioneer; three step-children, Tamera Ryman of Montpelier, Ohio; Robert Kissinger and Kimberly (Tim) Hickman, both of Edon, Ohio; eight step-grandchildren; four step-great grandsons; three sisters, Inez (Robert) Barrett of Carolina Shores, N.C., Carol Leary of Fort Meyers Beach, Fla. and Roberta (Guy) Montanari of Danbury, and one brother, Lawrence “Larry” (Christian) Leary of Bluffton, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lorraine Conklin.
A private graveside service will take place at a later date. Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Williams County Cancer Assistance. Online condolences may be left for the family at wwww.thethompsonfuneralhome.com.
