Pollyann DeMartine, 83, volunteer

Pollyann G. DeMartine, 83, of Ridgefield, CT, formerly of Ridgewood and Allendale, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. She was the loving wife of William DeMartine.

Polly was born on March 22, 1932 in Mineola, NY, daughter of the late Edward and Marian (Dickinson) Grimm. She graduated from Centenary College of New Jersey and worked as an Administrative Assistant for many years at The New Yorker Magazine.

While raising her family, Polly also volunteered at The Valley Hospital, Meals on Wheels and other non-profit organizations in the Ridgewood, NJ area. She was a member of Upper Ridgewood Community Church in Ridgewood, NJ.

Polly is survived by her husband of 60 years, William, as well as her three children: Peter DeMartine of Atlanta, GA; Mark DeMartine of Weston, CT and Scott DeMartine of Seattle, WA.

In addition, she is survived by seven grandchildren: Bill, Andrew, Caitlin, Sarah, Hayley, Brendan and Austin and three great grandchildren: Hanna, Edward and Daniel.

Polly also leaves behind her loving caregiver, Susan Strauss, who provided five years of caring, friendship and support.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, CT.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 12 Noon at Kane Funeral Home.

Interment will take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 1 PM at the Brick Church Cemetery; Spring Valley, NY.
