The Barefoot Movement, a quartet of young musicians based in Nashville, will be performing for CHIRP’s series of free summer concerts in Ballard Park on Tuesday, June 23, at 7 p.m.
Characterized by CMT Edge as “one of the most promising bands on the bluegrass scene,” it was recently awarded the Momentum Award at the 25th annual IBMA awards held in Raleigh, N.C. This award is given to the most promising in the early stages of a bluegrass career.
Now in their fifth year together they have played most of the top bluegrass festivals in the U.S., toured the country opening for the Milk Carton Kids, and had featured appearances on Music City Roots and Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour.
Crowding around a single microphone, with their lush harmonies, thoughtful instrumentation and a delightful mix of original and traditional melodies, The Barefoot Movement is a charismatic, four-piece acoustic band that takes listeners back to a simpler place and time. Today, after several years together, the band’s sound is redolent of tunes and melodies that touch on a multiplicity of music genres from folk, bluegrass, country to even a bit of rock ’n’ roll. Founded by Noah Wall, who is a singer-songwriter and fiddler, together with mandolinist Tommy Norris the band is completed by upright bassist Hasee Ciaccio and guitarist and singer Alex Connerly. The band will be here in large part due to the generosity of longtime CHIRP supporters Bob and Loire Leavitt, Ridgefield residents. In the event of bad weather the backup venue is East Ridge Middle School.
