The Board of Education May 26 found the money to replace visitors bleachers at Tiger Hollow this summer.

The board at its meeting at the Town Hall Annex unanimously approved a transfer from four transportation accounts totaling $85,000 to pay for the new bleachers.

The metal visitors bleachers at the football facility are dangerously out of compliance with safety codes, according to sports officials.

John Pavain, president of Tiger Hollow Inc., and Carl Charles, the school athletic director, made a presentation on the poor condition of the bleachers during a recent school board meeting.

Problems include no barriers to prevent people from falling under the seating or risers, and no hand railings up the aisleways.

The metal bleachers will be sold to a scrap metal dealer and replaced with concrete.

The work will take about a week. It will be done after the July 4 fireworks show.
