Pick Daffodil, a friendly feline from Jersey

About 30% of our cats and kittens come from an overcrowded shelter in southern New Jersey.

Sometimes, we meet the New Jersey team halfway on the Garden State Parkway and sometimes we are actually there to pick out the cats ourselves.

The latter was the case when I picked up Daffodil, a 2-year-old tortie as the cat to come to Connecticut. Our family was down there already traveling in a small convertible, which meant we had room to bring up only one cat. I also picked the friendly felines who would be coming later on transport and got a glimpse at the kittens, but one cat could come with me right then.

The main thing we look for at ROAR is a feline that is friendly, not only to humans but one who will be nice to other cats as well. When I opened the cage to pet Daffodil, she jumped into my arms and put her arms around my neck and purred and purred as if to say, “I am so going with you today!” We put her in the car, and she was as quiet as a mouse except for purrs and a silent cry as if to say, “Thank you.”

Beauty and cuteness are not requirements for our residents, but Daffodil is both, and she is a cat with a three-part plan: Get out of the crowded New Jersey shelter, get adopted at ROAR, and live a great life being a fantastic pet.

Please come to the shelter, pick Daffodil, and make her plans happen and your home a little brighter!

Roar has new hours: Monday and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sundays: 12 to 2 p.m. The shelter is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
