Ross’ Bread, located in Copps Hill Commons at 109 Danbury Road, has announced an ownership change that will take effect Wednesday, April 1.
Current owners Ross and Valerie Schneiderman confirmed the sale to Amy and Eric Freidenrich of Ridgefield Tuesday.
“It still be Ross’ Bread — same staff, same baking, same recipes,” Ms. Schneiderman said. “Amy and Eric will be carrying on what we built and eventually they will be adding their own stamp on it…
“We’re so pleased to have local people take over,” she said. “We’re not going anywhere — we’re staying here in Ridgefield — so we will be available to help them with the transition.”
The couple, who has owned the store for seven years and began selling their bread at the farmer’s market in the summer, is selling the artisan bakery and cafe because of job commitments elsewhere.
“Ross works in sports television, and has been doing that for the last 35 years,” Ms. Schneiderman said. “I own and operate The Yoga Shala in Branchville.
“The fact is that this shop has grown to such extent that it needs the full time attention — more than we can give it with our current work schedules.”
Ms. Schneiderman said the new owners were “a perfect fit” for the store.
“Amy is a baker and her family has lived in town for decades,” she said.
“We’re hoping this will be a seamless transition for our employees and customers,” she said.
