Ridgefield historian and author Jack Sanders will present a free talk about his latest book, Ridgefield Chronicles, at the Keeler Tavern Museum, 132 Main Street, Ridgefield, on Tuesday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in the Garden House.
Mr. Sanders, who retired last year as the longtime editor of The Ridgefield Press, will tell of the remarkable effect the “summer people” — wealthy families from New York City who summered at the large estates — had on changing Ridgefield. He will also discuss how the Great Fire of 1895 helped trigger that change.
The talk takes place in a building built by one of these summer people, Cass Gilbert. For more information, call 203-438-5485 or visit keelertavernmuseum.org
Mr. Sanders also writes the About Town column for The Press.
