The Ridgefield Bicycle Sports Club donated $1,000 to LINC — Leading Initiatives for New Connections — which aims to connect many of the walking and bike trails in town and to other towns’ trails.

The donation is the proceeds from the first annual Ridgefield Kids Duathlon, organized by the bike club and held on the parks and recreation campus on June 8, with more than 100 kids in three age groups competing.

“The LINC trail is envisioned to be a multi-use path for all ages and abilities that connects the most valued aspects of our town and provides safe, car-free recreation for everyone,” said Jacqui Dowd, president of the Ridgefield Bicycle Sport Club and advocate of LINC, which is being organized by Paul Roche, head of parks and recreation.

“This is a great collaboration,” said Geoffrey Morris, who helped organize the duathlon for the bike club. “A wonderful event for kids and families is helping support a worthy venture that will benefit every health-loving person in town.”
