Cooled by wetlands, streams and lots of green canopy overhead, the West Mountain Wetland Walk may offer an escape from hot summer temperatures. There are varied flowers and greenery and a boardwalk, as well as trails. To get there take West Mountain Road to Sharp Hill Road, park on Sharp Hill, walk back to West Mountain Road, go right on West Mountain, and cross to the entrance. Laura Craighead of the Conservation Commission notes that as the boardwalk has a few weak boards slated for repair. The Ridgefield Walk Book provides information on this and other open space in Ridgefield. It is available at Ridgefield Town Hall, Squash’s, Books on the Common and the Ridgefield Conservation Commission Office. —Laura Craighead photo
