Due to the efforts of Ridgefield resident Marion Welch, Gov. Dannel Malloy declared by proclamation July 1 as Stem Cell Awareness Day in Connecticut.
Ms. Welch has been working with expectant parents and obstetricians in Connecticut for the past 15 years to bring education and awareness of the potential of cord blood stem cells. Ms. Welch coordinates cord blood preservation for Connecticut residents with Cryo-Cell International, the world’s first cord blood bank.
July is also Cord Blood Awareness Month.
