This little salamander was recently discovered at Aldrich Park, peering out from the leaf litter along the trail. Aldrich Park is 65 acres of open space maintained by the Ridgefield Conservation Commission. There are three blazed trails providing natural experiences from beautiful seasonal vistas to tiny orange creatures like this one. The park entrance is the first left on New Street when coming from the Farmingville Road end. The Ridgefield Walk Book provides information on most of the open space in Ridgefield. It is available at Ridgefield Town Hall, Squash’s, Books on the Common and the Ridgefield Conservation Commission Office. —Valerie Rich photo
