Dieter Cakavell of Ridgefield won the Peggy and Bill Larned Award for Most Helpful Volunteer at the 33rd annual Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Horse Show on June 7.

“Dieter has been a dedicated and supportive volunteer for many years,” said Pegasus volunteer manager and instructor Lynn Peters. “He is always willing to give generously of his time and talent. In addition to volunteering in program, he and his partner Richard often represent us at our Pegasus booth when we are invited to events. They are wonderful goodwill ambassadors for our programs and our mission. Dieter and Richard have also supported Pegasus through their business, Cromlix Antiques, by holding sales and donating a portion of the proceeds to us. Dieter has been there for us in so many ways.”

Pegasus Therapeutic Riding provides the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities to people with special needs, military veterans and at-risk individuals, including disadvantaged young people and abuse survivors. For more information about Pegasus’ programs, to view a photo slide show of the horse show, or to make a donation in support of Pegasus’ mission, visit pegasustr.org.
