A two-part application that calls for the demolition of 27 Governor Street — what is now the Donnelly Professional Building — will receive a public hearing on June 10.

The Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association plans to construct its new headquarters in the space, but requires a special permit from the Planning and Zoning Commission as well as approval under the Village District regulations.

The planners received the application last Tuesday night and scheduled a joint public hearing on June 10.

Village District regulations will govern the demolition of the building, while the zoners will make sure that the redevelopment conforms to the town’s regulations.

The RVNA announced its plans to purchase of the property back in January, and plans to construct a new building on the 1.25-acre property that sits between the Boys & Girls Club and the shopping center complex that houses Bissell’s pharmacy.

Currently, the RVNA’s offices are in the old high school — a space rented from the town.

The building that currently stands at 27 Governor Street was originally the former home of Gov. Phineas Lounsbury, and was moved from its Main Street location in 1895 to make room for the mansion that is now the Community Center.
