Third Saturdays at the Aldrich offers a family-friendly experience making a monotype for printmaking on April 19.

It will take inspiration from the work of exhibiting artist Jessica Jackson Hutchins to make large-scale monotypes. Participants will sculpt a relief using unusual tools and materials to create a plate, then learn basic techniques to print from the textured surface, designing a one-of-a-kind monotype.

There will be two age-specific sessions: from 10 to noon for children 2 to 5 and from 1 to 3 for children aged 6 to 10. Siblings and friends of all ages are welcome to participate, but all children must be accompanied by a caregiver.

The programs are free for members and children 18 and under and free with the price of admission for nonmember adults. For more information, contact Michelle Friedman, youth and family programs coordinator, during museum hours at 203-438-4519, ext. 146, or mfriedman@aldrichart.org. The Aldrich is located at 258 Main Street.
