Ridgefield restaurants, businesses and other venues will showcase the work of fine artists in windows and on shop walls during Art Walk. This free three-week festival will include paintings, drawings, works on paper, photography, digital art, and sculpture, and is open to artists from across New England.
Art Walk kicks off on the evening of Friday, Aug. 22, when downtown merchants host opening receptions with their featured artists. Live music and performance art will showcase local talent from the area. The celebration will spill onto the sidewalks on Saturday, Aug. 23, with more live music, raffles and live demonstrations from participating artists.
“This event is a resurrection of two previous art walk events,” said Pamela Stoddart, a board member at the Ridgefield Guild of Artists and an organizer of Art Walk 2014. “For some time, local artists have wanted to bring back this event. It’s a wonderful way to draw visitors to our town and highlight amazing local talent at the same time.”
Selected artists will also exhibit a work in a special festival-long exhibit, “Walk on Down” at the Ridgefield Guild of Artists. An opening night “After Hours” party will be held at the guild for exhibiting artists, merchants and friends on Friday, Aug. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m.
