Robert C. Stauffer
Robert C. Stauffer, 56, of Danbury, passed away peacefully at his home with his devoted and loving family by his side, on Sunday, March 16, 2014 after a long courageous battle with head and neck cancer.
Robert is survived by his wife of 19 years, Armen (Yeranos) Stauffer and son, Kyle Robert Stauffer, a senior at DHS and Eagle Scout of Troop 9 Boy Scouts. Robert is also survived by his brothers, Thomas Stauffer, of Danbury, CT and James Stauffer of Holmdel, NJ as well as his sister, Penny Stauffer of Newburyport, MA. Robert leaves behind nieces and nephews: Matthew Stauffer, Caitlyn Stauffer, Robert Cataldo, William Cataldo, Owen Stauffer, Claire Stauffer, Ysabelle Kempe, and Sophia Kempe.
Robert was born in Port Arthur, TX, son of Charles Robert Stauffer and the late Claire Evans Stauffer. He graduated from Ridgefield High School class of 1976 and later graduated Denver Automotive and Diesel College. A Cryogenic Technician for CT Airgas for 27 years (formerly Cryodyne acquired by CT Airgas), Bob loved to tinker and demonstrated extraordinary skill fixing anything mechanical. A quote from his nephew Matthew, “In addition to your day job, you always had three or four side projects and a tool for every occasion”.
Everything Bob did was “Texas-size” from preparing and cooking large family meals to projects around the house. If Bob built it, it wasn’t going to come apart very easily. He was an avid power boater and enjoyed skiing in the winter months. Bob enjoyed many extended family vacations including bareboat sailing in the Caribbean and vacationing at the family house in Prout’s Neck, ME.
Bob was a generous man, always there to help out anyone in need, not a bad bone in his body. His upbeat attitude kept his friends and family positive while he bravely endured his six-year journey with cancer, never complaining, always thinking of those he loved.
Bob’s family would like to thank all of his caregivers, nurses, and physicians who are too countless to name, but particularly Dr. Marc Rappaport and his staff for their wonderful care during his illness.
There will be no calling hours and interment will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury is in charge of the arrangements.
