The last call for middle and high school rock bands to enter BandJam 2014 is Saturday. Feb. 22.
Live tryouts for the 16 semi-finalist bands will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 17, for middle school bands, and on Tuesday, March 18, for high school bands at The Ridgefield Playhouse. Finalists in both categories will compete in the American Idol-style competition on Sunday, April 27, at 4 p.m., also at The Ridgefield Playhouse.
Now in its fifth year, Ridgefield BandJam was created by kids as a fundraiser for The Ridgefield Playhouse, a not-for-profit performing arts center in Ridgefield.
“BandJam has proven to be a highly anticipated annual community event that raises significant funds for the Playhouse,” the Playhouse said.
A panel of music pros including Ethan Carey of i95FM radio will judge the bands.
For tickets for the April 27 event ($20, $15 students) for BandJam 2014, call the box office at 203-438-5795 or go online to ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
