1 p.m. — Here is the latest from the state’s Emergency Operations Center: “Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for all of Southern CT and Windham County for this afternoon.  At 11:45 AM radar showed moderate snow falling over most of the state.  Temperatures are holding steady and currently range from the upper 20’s to the low 30′s across the state.  Total snowfall thus far generally ranges from around an inch in northern CT up to 5” along the southwest coast.  The major highways are currently wet and slushy for the most part.  Many secondary roads are snow and slush covered at this time.  Towns can expect moderate snow to continue for the next few hours.  The impact on the midday commute is expected to be minor in northern CT and minor to moderate in southern CT for the next 3 – 4 hours.   The snow is forecast to taper off to light snow and flurries from northwest to southeast between 2:30 – 4:30 PM.  The impact on the afternoon rush hour is expected to be minor in most places by 4:00 PM with a moderate impact possible on the secondary roads of southern CT.  Total snowfall is forecast to range from 2″ – 3″ in Northern CT up to 4″ – 7″ along the coast.  Accumulations should generally be greater on grassy surfaces and a little less on roads where some melting continues to occur.”
