Ridgefield Public School teachers Judy Silver, Karen Troost and David Griffth discuss plans for Tech Quest at the Ridgefield High School Library Learning Commons.
Want to learn about the latest technology being introduced to our kids? The Ridgefield Education Foundation and the Ridgefield Public Schools will host “Tech Quest” on Tuesday, Jan. 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ridgefield High School Library Learning Commons, to demonstrate the 21st century tools currently being used in the Ridgefield Public Schools.
The community is invited.
“So much is changing within the educational landscape between the Common Core State Standards, delivery of curriculum and innovative technology,” said foundation President Avery Costigan. “Just consider the progression of technology within our homes, this night is an opportunity for residents to experience the dynamic and meaningful applications that are being used within Ridgefield’s own classrooms in a hands-on setting. Come support your teachers.”
The night will feature nearly 20 Ridgefield Public School teachers ranging from elementary, middle to high school that will showcase their creative use of progressive technology, tools and applications to bring differentiation, blended learning, critical thinking, collaboration and innovation to their classrooms.
Parents may visit stations to learn more about a flipped classroom, Google Apps, Blackboard, Quizlet, Animoto, Prezi, WriterKey, and many more. A special presentation will focus on Google Glass as a Ridgefield High School teacher Michael Yagid is one of a few educators nationally testing the new tool.
“It will be a great night for the community to learn about the technology being used in the classroom and how the district supports our 21st century learners,” said Craig Tunks, school director of technology and operations development. “There will be something for everyone. All the grade levels will be represented.”
“If you still don’t have children in the school system you should still stop by to see some of the technology in use and visit the new Library Learning Commons at RHS,” said Ms. Costigan.
In addition, there will be a free raffle for a Google Chromebook. Any attendee can participate in the raffle.
