Friday, 5 a.m. — Overnight snow showers have led to slick roads and a two-hour delay in the opening of school.
Police report roads in town are “very slippery” and area departments have been reporting traffic accidents.
The schools announced at 5 that “weather and road conditions” prompted the delay.
While only about an eighth of an inch of snow has fallen, roads are covered and most are not yet treated.
The light snow is expected to continue this morning and into the afternoon when a change-over to rain is predicted.
Temperatures have been rising overnight — from a low of 16 to the current 24 degrees — as warmer air moves into the area.
Weekend rain may be heavy and there is a watch for urban and small stream flooding for the area. Up to two inches of rain may fall.
