The Discovery Center at Ridgefield, in conjunction with the New Pond Farm Observatory, 101 Marchant Road, West Redding, is hosting a public astronomy program Saturday, Jan. 4 starting at 7 p.m.
Participants will view the Jupiter and its moons, and craters, plains and mountains of the moon through the observatory’s telescopes. The constellations of Orion, and the seven sisters of the Pleiades will also be viewed.
Participants should dress warmly and bring a flashlight for the walk from the parking area to the observatory, and binoculars, if you have them. The program is $4 for center members, maximum of $16 per family; nonmembers, $6/$24. Register at (www.ridgefielddiscovery.org/) or call 203-438-1063.
