Coldwell Banker donates $40,000 to Regional Hospice
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has donated $40,000 to Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut in support of the new hospice facility that is under construction in Danbury. The donation was made through the company’s charitable foundation, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares Foundation.
Regional Hospice has begun a 36,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility on Old Ridgebury Road that is the first free-standing, private-room hospice in the state of Connecticut. The facility will have 12 private suites for patients, a family kitchen, chapel, library and common gathering areas. It will also house the Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children and Families, which provides grief counseling and support services.

Syndicated Solutions sets up coffee sales benefiting charity
Syndicated Solutions Inc. (SSI) of Ridgefield has joined with World Vision and Camano Island Coffee Roasters in a new partnership to provide world coffees through radio programs, travel companies, sports leagues, and civic organizations.
Sales are benefiting World Vision, which works in nearly 100 countries assisting more than 100 million children and their families in struggles against poverty, hunger and injustice.
“They’re also focused on larger issues that include community development and advocacy for helping poor children and their families build sustainable and hopeful futures,” said Bob Carey, president of SSI.
Mr. Carey “brought these two organizations together as I realized the tremendous good we could collectively accomplish together.”
In the coffee program, called BuzzBox, people can purchase coffees from around the world through various partners SSI aligns with BuzzBox, and a percentage of the purchases go to World Vision. The coffees are USDA organic, shade-grown, top 1% Arabica grade, and fair-traded.
“We are basically creating an alliance with these outlets through a subscription-based coffee program where 10% of purchases goes towards World Vision activities/campaigns,” said Mr. Carey. “Since the audience/participants get hooked on the great coffee, and then tell their friends, family, colleagues, etc. who also become members — it’s the annuitized aspect of BuzzBox that ensures continued expansion and long term revenues that are substantial for both the entity we associate with BuzzBox as a sustained fundraiser and the world vision cause. It’s truly a win-win!”

Workshop offers resume assistance
Resume Assistance is a new workshop offered by Ridgefield Continuing Education.
This one-on-one session focuses on how to analyze one’s background and job history to determine the resume format that best highlights accomplishments and skills.
Instructor Glenna McNally of Ridgefield has more than 30 years experience in executive recruiting and human resources consulting and is owner of G. McNally Enterprises in Danbury.

Two will study Bikram yoga
Maritza Johnson, owner of Bikram Yoga of Ridgefield at 609 Main Street, will be sending Julia Marie DiAcri, a 1989 Ridgefield High School graduate who moved to Ridgefield in 1984, and Robin Idestrom, a Ridgefield resident of three and a half years, to a nine-week Bikram Yoga teacher training course in Los Angeles, Calif., on Sept. 15.
When they return, both will teach classes at Bikram Yoga of Ridgefield.
Ms. DiAcri has been a town employee and personal trainer since 2003. She is also a mother of two and a private makeup artist.
Originally from California, Ms. Idestrom is a mother and a private voice teacher. At Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, she leads worship in the Contemporary Service, sings in the choir (directed by her husband), plays piano and is a Stephen Minister.

Laurel Ridge offers rehabilitation info
During National Rehabilitation Awareness week Sept. 16 to 20, Laurel Ridge Health Care Center at 642 Danbury Road, will describe the benefits and impact of physical, occupational and speech therapy rehabilitation.
Each day specific therapeutic areas will be highlighted for guests. Highlights will include use of adaptive therapeutic equipment, variety of functional balance testing and modality use, different diet food to compliment therapy, and demonstrations of testing equipment and treatment modalities.
