The new St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church was designed by Ridgefield architects and built by a Ridgefield contractor.

This month the members of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church gathered to give thanks for their former worship space and then moved in procession to their new sanctuary.

Designed by Doyle Coffin Architects and built by Roche Construction, the new sanctuary will seat almost double what was possible in the former space.

This is the first phase of a two-phase building plan.

The new sanctuary will be dedicated on Sunday, Oct. 27, with ELCA New England Bishop Jim Hazelwood presiding.

In addition, on Nov. 17, Kyler Brown, organist from New York City, will present an organ recital on the new Holtkamp organ that was installed in the new church.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, the members of St. Andrew’s invite the community to an Open House/Kids’ Fund Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The day will include tours of the new sanctuary, a bounce house, face-painting, games, balloon animals for children, and food for all.

“As we celebrate God’s many blessings, we invite those who attend to bring a food item to be donated to Ridgefield Social Services Food Pantry,” said the Rev. H. Gaylon Barker, pastor.

Food many be dropped off at resource tables provided by St. Andrew’s Social Ministry Team. For more information, call the church at 203-438-0606.
