High winds last night and through the overnight felled trees and knocked out power throughout town with Ridgefield being the second most affected town in the Eversource customer area of southwestern Connecticut.
Public schools are on a regular schedule but St. Mary School is on a three-hour delay.
Part of a large tree along Main Street fell across the road near Casagmo and the road remains closed with a detour at Gilbert and Main and Pound and Main (via New Street).
Traffic lights from Governor to Prospect are out and stop signs have been posted in the roadway.
There was no power on the Prospect Street block — the library and Prospector Theater were dark. An Eversource crew was working at a utility pole on Main Street directly across from Gilbert Street.
UPDATE: As of 7:19, there were reports that power had been restored to Main Street and traffic lights were working.
Wind gusts reached 40 miles per hour and reports of felled trees started coming in yesterday evening and continued through the morning.
The National Weather Service advisory calls for gusts up to 50 mph are possible this morning.
