Preliminary forecasts for snow on the first day of spring have already led to cancellation of the Greenwich St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which was scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

Fairfield County, Conn., and Westchester County, N.Y., are part of  a large area under a hazardous weather outlook Sunday. The National Weather Service forecasts 1 to 3 inches of snow Sunday night, making roads slippery.

New Haven County is under a winter weather advisory from 6 p.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday. The National Weather Service predicts that a mix of light rain and snow there will give way to all snow Sunday night before tapering off Monday morning. Accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected, with the National Weather Service warning that visibility will be reduced to one-quarter to one-half mile, creating hazardous travel conditions.

After the snow ends Monday, a mostly sunny Tuesday is followed by cloudiness Wednesday and Thursday, with thunderstorms possible Friday.
