Congregation Shir Shalom on Peaceable Street is hosting a music Shabbat on Friday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. using classically trained musicians interpreting traditional Shabbat music.
Duetto Viello, a husband-and-wife team, will share in the music of the worship service with Cantor Deborah Katchko-Gray and Rabbi David Reiner, and will present a short program of music by Jewish composers.
Duetto Viello consists of Suzanne Corey-Sahlin, principal violist of the Ridgefield Symphony and Norwalk Symphony, and Gunnar Sahlin, principal cellist of the Norwalk Symphony and assistant principal of the Ridgefield Symphony from 2009 to 2013.
Katchko-Gray is an amateur cellist with the Danbury Community Orchestra.
Camden Archambeau and Rachel Li will play a cello and piano piece by Ernest Bloch using Jewish themes.
Services are open to the community. There will be refreshments after the service. For more information: 203-438-6589, www.tsiridgefield.org or cantordebbie@gmail.com
