Nuts about nuts

If you’re nuts about nuts, come to our next Tasting on Friday, March 11, at 2 p.m., sponsored by Ridgefield Crossings. We’ll take you beyond standard supermarket-shelf peanut butter into the more flavorful (and better for you) world of natural nut butters. Almonds, cashews, pistachios, and walnuts all make tasty and nutritious spreads.

“Each variety offers something a little different and all are beneficial in their own way,” writes nutritionist Nancy Clark. High in heart-healthy fat, fiber and protein, versatile nut butters satiate and taste good, which makes them one of the best snack foods. In addition to sampling several varieties of nut butters, you’ll hear about various brands, see how easy it is to make your own, and learn how to creatively use them in all kinds of recipes.

Another notable event is the RVNA’s spelling bee on Wednesday, March 9, at the Ridgefield Playhouse. Our executive director, Grace Weber, will be one of the contestants. Feel free to drop by her office this week with a practice word or two!

If you spend time online, you’re probably aware of Fairfield County Community Foundation’s Giving Day, a one-day regional effort to harness the collective power of giving. We applaud that effort but recognize how often we ask for your support. That’s why you won’t see Founders Hall listed among Giving Day recipients. If you want to give to Founders Hall, you may do so directly at founders-hall.org or by responding to our recent member appeal letter.
