The Ridgefield Library is accepting old computer hard drives, PCs, Macs, and laptops for safe recycling on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Dayton Program Room on the lower level. Items will be smashed so that no one can take information.
A $20 fee will be charged per drive, with proceeds supporting RidgeCon 2016, a pop culture celebration coming in August (the “sequel” to last year’s Comic Con).
Brute force to dismantle CPUs and destroy the hard drives is provided by the library’s Teen Advisory Group. Secure recycling and final disposal is provided by Newtech Recycling Inc., a certified recycler that provides e-content recycling for the town. Information: 203-438-2282.
