The Discovery Center at Ridgefield is hosting a guided bird walk for all ages on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 8 a.m. in the Shadow Lake Open Space, Shadow Lake Road (park at the ball field entrance).
Discovery Center birder Noah Sferra will lead a Valentine’s Day morning stroll in search of birds through the meadows and woodland habitats of the property. He will share information on native birds and their ecology and conservation. The program will continue with a field walk. The birding program participants have been seeing at least 12 different songbirds on recent outings. Although “lovebirds” will most likely not be spotted, Sferra will share the secret hiding spots our local birds “love” during the winter months.
Participants should dress for the outdoors. Warm clothes and winter boots are advised. Binoculars will be available for participants to borrow.
All ages are welcome to the free program. Call 203-438-1063 or visit ridgefielddiscovery.org to make reservations.
