In Ridgefield today, the morning snow, which caused early dismissal of Ridgefield Public Schools and postponement of after school activities and the Board of Education meeting tonight, continues but has moderated and the roads are less slippery.Nonetheless, Ridgefield Police have responded to numerous accidents, most appear to be minor single vehicle events where cars have slid off the road and become stuck. The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security have issued the following weather report.Winter storm warnings remain in effect for central and eastern Connecticut with the lesser winter weather advisories in effect for western Connecticut. Light to moderate snow is falling in Central Connecticut at this time. Temperatures are currently in the mid 20s across the state. The major highways appear to be wet or lightly snow / slush covered in most of the state with a slush and snow cover on many secondary roads. Thus far this morning the heaviest snow has fallen in Southeastern Connecticut where the highways and secondary roads are more snow covered than in the rest of the state. Northeast and north winds are currently gusting to around 30 miles per hour across the state.
