Rachel Volpone’s ‘Sea-Blue’ will be on display at Sarah’s Wine Bar on Wednesday, Feb. 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. as part of the Ridgefield League of Women Voters annual art raffle fund-raiser.
Rachel Volpone, a Ridgefield artist and member of the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, has donated her work Seablue to the League of Women Voters art raffle fund-raiser. The piece is in honor of her maternal grandfather, Peter Grillo.
When asked why she wanted to work with the Ridgefield League of Women Voters, she said, “I am honored to donate a painting to the league. Voting is a big deal with our family. My grandfather in his 80s used to drive ‘seniors’ to the polls — oftentimes much younger than him! He was so committed to the democratic process and was representative of that last great generation, so few of whom are still alive. This is done in his honor — Peter Grillo, my maternal grandfather, who loved the sea,” Volpone said.
