Independent film fest announces selections

Twenty-four community screeners have selected films for the first Ridgefield Independent Film Festival, May 20-22 at various venues in Ridgefield.

Close to 200 films from 34 countries were submitted for consideration during the June 15-Jan. 1 screening period. Films were rated based on originality/creativity, direction, writing, cinematography, performances, production value, pacing, structure, and sound/music.

Seventy-three films from 23 countries were selected for the May festival at various locations, including the Ridgefield Library, Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Prospector Theater, Keeler Tavern Museum, and Ridgefield Playhouse.

Of the selections, six are narrative features, seven are documentary features, 20 are narrative shorts, four are documentary shorts, five are animated shorts, 29 are in the student category, and two are web/new media.

The screeners included Chelsea Barrett, Dawn Berenson, Jon Bosscher, Abigail Boyar, Kristie Brady, Bridget Butler, Savita Choudhary, Lisa Cohen, Spencer Eldridge, Russell Findlay, Mary Harold, Meryl Harold, Nathan Harold, Olivia Harold, DJ Martin Harold, Karine Hils, Emelie Howard, Joanne Hudson, Ryan Junell, Tracy Kilmartin, Marjorie Kingsley, Elise Miller, Sean Murphy, and Jillian Rae.

The Ridgefield Independent Film Festival is a site-specific film festival whose mission is “to make the world a more compassionate place through the sharing of stories through cinema, and to give comfort and aid to hardworking filmmakers.”
