Wintry weather may occasionally keep you from your classes at Founders Hall. Thanks to Ridgefield Library’s growing collection of digital resources, bad weather doesn’t have to impede your access to learning. Come learn about those resources, which are available 24/7, from librarian Dorothy Pawlowski on Friday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m. In the seminar, Dorothy will tell you about the library’s digital collection, explain how to access it through the library’s website, and discuss availability as well as compatibility with a variety of devices.
“Think of it as your library-on-the-go,” says Dorothy. “All you need is an Internet connection and a Ridgefield Library card to download e-books, audiobooks, magazines, music, and movies from the library’s website to a computer, smartphone, or tablet.” You can also take advantage of online language learning and video tutorials on many computer and business skills. And as the library’s website points out, the best part is that downloaded items are returned automatically when the loan period is up, so there are no fines or lost item charges.
If you’re a regular library patron, you probably already know Dorothy, who has worked there for more than 15 years and became head of Adult Services in 2014. In addition to her focus on readers’ advisory services and overseeing technology instruction for the library’s digital resources, she is involved in Making STEAM @ Ridgefield Library, a new initiative that offers programs in science, technology, engineering, art, and math to the community.
