The Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association (RVNA) is offering an educational presentation on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m., Aging with Attitude, a coping mechanism seminar at Ridgefield Crossings Senior Living. Laura Switzer, RVNA licensed clinical social worker, will be the presenter. The seminar will focus on learning ways to avoid and cope with stress, depression, anxiety and other aging issues. Switzer received a bachelor of science in public and community health from Southern Connecticut State University and a master’s degree in social work from Fordham University. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and has been with RVNA for nearly 13 years. As RVNA’s medical social worker, Switzer supports the patient and the patient’s family in a myriad of ways. She supports the emotional and social aspects of care and recovery, from long-term care planning and case management to advise on ways to reduce family stress.
