Jamie Shafer, a longtime and active Ridgefielder, died on Jan. 9 at Danbury Hospital surrounded by family. She had been in declining health with COPD and pneumonia. She was 84.

In later years, she and her husband traveled the world, with visits through Europe and the Middle East. She also devoted many hours to genealogical research and digital restoration of family photos, teaching herself to be an expert in Adobe Photoshop in the process.A memorial service will be held at the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, on Friday, Jan. 15, at 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ridgefield Historical Society.
