If your New Year’s resolutions focus on fitness, you’ll want to know about some changes in our wonderful fitness staff. Long-time aerobics instructor Cheryl Freeman has left Founders Hall to pursue other interests. Taking over for Cheryl are Peggy Crotty and Susan Neumann, both of whom are AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) certified instructors. You may recognize these two experienced and enthusiastic women from other local exercise facilities where they teach a variety of classes, including spinning, TRX training and Pilates.

We’re also welcoming two new yoga instructors this semester, Valerie Rich and Michael Simonelli. Valerie, who instructs at several local studios, teaches Iyengar-inspired yoga and incorporates the principles of the Alexander Technique to her teaching, which help minimize the risk of injury or strain and are great for new and experienced yoga students. Michael’s vinyasa-based practice focuses heavily on alignment, building strength and integration of breath. He strives to help students find their own personal practice and strength both on and off the mat.

Lindy Oszlewski is an ACE (American Council on Exercise) Certified Personal Trainer with a background in dance and sports. She is a popular local Zumba and spinning instructor, and will now be teaching our evening conditioning class, Strength, Core and More, which offers a full body workout.

There are currently openings in both sections of aerobics as well as the evening yoga and conditioning classes. Call Tracy at 203-431-7000 for details on days, times and costs and to sign up.

Wellness Tea, sponsored by The Greens at Cannondale/Wilton Meadows, is Friday, Jan. 8, 2 p.m.
